This year’s 18th Annual beach planting and cleanup at Linda Mar State beach on Saturday, January 17th was truly a COMMUNITY effort! 17 students from Compass High School in San Francisco cleaned Linda Mar beach today. We picked up 22 lbs of trash, it does not seem like a lot, but at Linda Mar most of the litter are tinny little pieces and styrofoam, so 22 lbs represent a large volume of trash. Yesterday, I went to Sharp Park Beach and picked up 11.5lbs of trash. This included about 1.5 lbs or 35 pieces of blobs of tar. They range in size from a quarter to a small pancake.
