Upcoming Event – Volunteer for Post 4th of July Fireworks Cleanup

Clean up microplastics and debris from fireworks left behind on the beach before it ends up in the ocean and the mouths of wildlife.

Every July 5th, the Pacific Beach Coalition organizes a team of Earth Heroes who takes action by cleaning up our streets and beaches after the celebratory traditions of the Fourth of July. Fireworks litter and debris on the streets and from our yards can blow in the wind into San Pedro Creek, Milagra Creek, the Secret Waterfall, and our ocean. When it’s on the beach, it washes out to sea with the tides and becomes harmful marine debris.

There’s nothing more patriotic than saving our fish, sharks, turtles, whales, and snowy plovers by picking up litter left behind from July 4th festivities. Let’s all do our part to make this the “land free of debris!”

Mark your calendars now and register for a site by signing the online waiver form for you and each person in your party.

Street To Beach – Special 4th of July Cleanup

We encourage you and your peers to go out and clean up your neighborhood and/or your favorite park, river, beach, or trail etc. We often find fireworks debris up to one month after the July 4th so any time after the holiday is a good time to pick up the litter. Read more to find all the information needed to get started with your cleanup and our Street to Beach Cleanup program.

Who can clean up fireworks debris?

Everyone! We welcome adults, kids, families, seniors, students, groups, teams, and businesses.

What do I bring to a fireworks debris cleanup?

We recommend bringing gloves, a bucket, and a trash picker (if available). We’ll also have supplies on hand for volunteers.
