Saturday, November 7, we had 40 volunteers commandeer Rockaway Beach and environs for the monthly cleanup. Fifty-five fifth-graders from The Nueva School in Hillsborough enthusiastically cleaned up the Rockaway Beach area, learned about the causes and effects of litter, and then worked at habitat restoration for two hours! Earth heroes making a difference!

Sunday turned out to be a great success. Native plant seed balls were tossed onto the switchbacks and hillside, cape ivy was pulled from the rocks and native plant seedlings were given a new start at the base of the switch backs along the beach side of the path. We worked hard and had fun.

This fish crate, found on the rocks/rip-rap area on July 25th, 2015 during the monthly Mussel Rock cleanup, has been confirmed by NOAA and the Japanese Consulate as being from the 2011 Japanese Tsunami.
