Volunteer for CA Coastal Cleanup Day
We’re going on a Trashure Hunt! This year’s 41st Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day invites you to look closely for trash hidden in unexpected places. Coastal Cleanup Day takes place on September 20, 2025 from 9AM-11AM.
How to participate in Coastal Cleanup Day
- Join one of PBC’s cleanup sites. Scroll to see the full list of locations and links to waiver forms. Sign the waiver before the event — one waiver for each person in your party. Gloves and buckets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend bringing gloves.
- Host a self-led cleanup in your own neighborhood during the month of September. Our Street to Beach program is geared toward anyone who wants to make a difference wherever they are.
Log your results in the Clean Swell app.
Get credit for your cleanup efforts by keeping track of what you collect during Coastal Cleanup Day. You can download the Clean Swell app from the Apple Store or Google Play for free. Be sure to include PBC or Pacific Beach Coalition as the organization name so your entries can count toward the final results.
What’s a trashure hunt?
Small treasure chests will be hidden at select cleanup locations. If you find the treasure chest, bring it to your site captain and claim your prize (prizes vary by location).
