Clean the Beach for a Chance to Win Prizes

We’re going on a Trashure Hunt! This year’s 41st Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day invites you to look closely for trash hidden in unexpected places. Coastal Cleanup Day takes place on September 20, 2025 from 9AM-11AM.
Then, join us for a social gathering at El Toro Loco in Pacifica from 12PM-1:30PM. Scroll for more details.
What’s a trashure hunt?
Special pieces of trashure (trash treasure) will be hidden at all PBC cleanup locations. Each piece of trashure will have a special “winning prize” flyer tucked inside or wrapped around it. If you find one of the special pieces of trashure, bring it to your site captain and claim your prize (prizes vary by location). Good luck!
How to participate in Coastal Cleanup Day:
- Join one of PBC’s cleanup sites. Sign the waiver before the event — one waiver for each person in your party. Gloves and buckets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend bringing gloves and a bucket if you have them.
- Host a self-led cleanup in your own neighborhood during the month of September. Our Street to Beach program is geared toward anyone who wants to make a difference wherever they are.
Log your results in the Clean Swell app.
This is the cleanup that really counts! Get credit for your cleanup efforts by keeping track of what you collect during Coastal Cleanup Day. You can download the Clean Swell app from the Apple Store or Google Play for free. Be sure to include “PBC + Your Site Location” (e.g., PBC Linda Mar) as the group name so your entries can count toward the final results.

Be a part of the solution.
You can help put an end to plastic pollution — one piece at a time. The ocean and its inhabitants need you more than ever before to intercept trash from the beaches, streets, and streams before it ends up out at sea. When you join a beach cleanup with PBC, you’re joining a group of likeminded individuals that cares about its coastal community.
Join the PBC Coastal Cleanup Day Social at El Toro Loco.
After a fulfilling morning of cleaning up beaches and neighborhoods, come hang out with other Earth Hero volunteers at El Toro Loco (1780 Francisco Boulevard in West Sharp Park, Pacifica) from 12PM-1:30PM. Food and drink will be available for purchase. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet our new director Patrick Cavanaugh. Let us know you’re coming by RSVPing on Eventbrite.
