PBC Awarded Best Large Float of FogFest 2025

PBC volunteers pose with our Best Large Float award at FogFest 2025

Pacifica’s 38th Annual FogFest has come and gone in a flash. The fun-filled weekend brought locals and visitors alike to the historic Sharp Park district to experience live music, delicious food, unique goods from vendors, and so much more. PBC was proud to serve as the Co-Grand Marshal of this year’s “Waves of Fun” parade held on Saturday, September 27. Out of 63 groups, we’re honored to have been awarded Best Large Float for our Pelican Dreams float.

We’re so proud of our community for bringing this incredibly artistic (and gigantic) pelican to life! A massive congratulations to our talented float team:

  • Sara for her visionary leadership
  • Cecily and family for storing and making everything happen
  • Bevan for building the pelican “skeleton”
  • Chris and Ted for their expert feathering

Special thanks to students at Ocean Shore School as well as students and volunteers who chipped in their help during our many weekend pelican-making sessions.

PBC’s FogFest Booth

In addition to the parade, PBC invited Earth Heroes of all ages to stop into our booth to learn more about the brown pelican, vote on our 2026 Earth Honoree slogan, and find out how to take action for the environment. More than 500 people made their voice heard by voting for their favorite slogan. We’ll announce the winner in early 2026.

Coming Soon: Pelican Week

Until then, keep our current Earth Honoree in focus by joining us for Pelican Week from October 20-25. We’re planning a movie night on Friday, October 24 at 7PM at the Sharp Park Library in Pacifica, a special talk with Ace Pelican Spotter, Bart Selby, on Saturday, October 25 at 11:15AM at Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay after our regular cleanup event, and other special treats. More details coming soon.
