Final Beach Cleanup of 2023!

For the very last beach cleanup of 2023 for Pacific Beach Coalition, we closed out the year with a fantastic morning on December 30th at Surfer’s Beach! Despite the early morning downpour, by the time setup was complete and the team began welcoming the incoming volunteers, the sun was peeking out, and a beautiful morning ensued.

Due to the recent storms, the ocean’s waves were quite lively, enough that the usual cleanup location was moved to the harbor, making for a great final hoorah of the year. 31 dedicated volunteers collected 72 pounds of trash, 18 pounds of recyclables, and 292 cigarette butts!

Thank you, Ashley, Melinda, and Julie, for a great morning, and a special shoutout and thank you to Adam, Tyler, and Julio at the harbor for their help.

We appreciate everyone who supports Pacific Beach Coalition’s work and educational programs. Thank you for helping us to protect our beautiful ocean and coastline by donating money, time, or both! Your dollars will go towards our ongoing educational efforts (such as the Naturalists program) and our beach cleanups and habitat restoration efforts along the coastal trail. Thank you so much for any contribution: big or small!
