Past Event: Geology Walk at Mussel Rock

Bob McLaughlin of the USGS will lead a 90 minute geology walk on the geological history of this area. Mussel Rock is near the epicenter of the 1906 earthquake and is where the San Andres fault goes into the Pacific Ocean. Learn more about the rock formations, tectonic plates, earthquake faults, and fossils of this unique environment.

WHERE TO MEET: Mussel Rock Parking lot in Daly City. End of Westline Drive near the Allied Waste Transfer station. Meet by the gate at the north end of the parking lot. Wear hiking boots or shoes with good soles: we will be climbing over rocks and boulders to get down to the beach.

9:00-10:00AM COME EARLY AND BE PART OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD LITTER CLEAN UP. MEET AT 9AM IN THE PARKING LOT.

11:30-1:00 POTLUCK PICNIC/BBQ AFTER THE GEOLOGY WALK. BRING A DISH TO SHARE, YOUR OWN UTENSILS, PLATE PLUS ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO COOK OVER THE FIREPIT.

See you all there!
