38 Volunteers & A Successful Cleanup!

Cleaning up the environment is a great way to give back to the community and help protect the natural world. On March 25, a wonderful group of 38 volunteers came together to do just that. They collected a variety of items, including some unusual ones that caught everyone’s attention, including a boat motor covered in barnacles, and a plastic doll, which likely ended up in the water due to littering. Fortunately, the volunteers were able to remove these items and prevent them from causing harm to the environment.

Natalie, one of the volunteers, found a trowel during the cleanup and was excited to keep it for future use. The group also found a swimmer’s foot fin, a surfboard fin, and an unopened can of Red Bull that caused quite a bit of excitement among the kids. Even though these items were unusual, they were all a reminder of how much trash can end up in our waterways and the importance of keeping them clean.

After sorting the trash from the recycling, the volunteers took the opportunity to talk to Naturalist Natalie about nudibranchs and other marine creatures. Her plush sea lion proved to be a big hit with everyone. The volunteers were enthusiastic about learning more about the marine life in the area and were grateful for the opportunity to connect with an expert.

Overall, the cleanup was a great success, and everyone involved should be proud of their efforts. By working together, this group of volunteers made a positive impact on the environment and helped protect the natural world. It’s always inspiring to see people come together to make a difference, and this cleanup was no exception.
