Earth Day EcoFest 2026

We’re excited to host our annual Earth Day of Action and EcoFest on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Pacific Beach Coalition’s annual Earth Day EcoFest is a free, family-friendly outdoor community event. We’ll start the day at 9AM for cleanup and habitat restoration events across more than 15 site locations in San Mateo County. The fun continues from 10:30AM – 1:30PM with our main festival event, co-sponsored by the City of Pacifica, at Pacifica State Beach in Linda Mar.
There’s something for everyone with more than 30 booths and activities hosted by our partners Recology of the Coast, North Coast County Water District, Peninsula Clean Energy, San Mateo County Parks Foundation, and The Marine Mammal Center, in addition to City and County partners, local community-based organizations, schools, scientists, artists, and advocates.
Make a difference during PBC’s Earth Day EcoFest on April 18:
Sign up for a volunteer opportunity
Volunteer to participate in a cleanup or restoration event. Community action events will take place from 9-11AM at various sites; view the schedule below and complete registration. Be sure to submit a signed waiver for each participating volunteer in your group. This helps us bring the right amount of supplies to each location. Due to the large volume of volunteers at many of our locations, we encourage you to bring gloves, buckets, and optional trash grabbers/pickup sticks.
Celebrate Earth and steelhead trout at EcoFest
Following our action events, we celebrate! This family-friendly event takes place in the main parking lot at Pacifica State Beach from 10:30AM-1:30PM. It features guest speakers, activities for all ages, music, art, and booths. This year will showcase our 2026 Earth Honoree, Steelhead Trout.
Our new Earth Honoree provides a welcome reminder of how our unique coastal environment supports an incredibly resilient ecosystem. A surviving population of these remarkable fish continues to spawn, swim, and survive in San Pedro Creek.
EcoFest visitors will be encouraged to take a Naturalist tour, hosted by San Pedro Creek Water Quality Coalition, to learn more about the challenges and opportunities for restoring and conserving a healthy watershed.

What to expect at EcoFest 2026
With fun activities planned, including a Marine Robotics team, we expect that EcoFest will be an engaging and inspiring opportunity to celebrate Earth Month, Climate Week, the beauty of nature, and our need to become better watershed stewards.

Other ways to take action during Earth Month:
- Host your own Street to Beach cleanup and pick up litter from an area in need. Remember: Mother Earth isn’t your trashcan or ashtray.
- Plant native CA plants such as the Silver Lupines, which are essential to the survival of the Mission Blue Butterfly (PBC Earth Honoree 2022).
- Remove invasive weeds.
- Use alternatives to pesticides such as neem oil.
- Compost your green waste and use it to build a healthy and biologically diverse soil.
- Reduce waste by buying less, reusing items, and recycling materials.
- Turn off lights and electronics when they’re not in use.
- Reduce your carbon footprint by walking, biking, carpooling, or taking public transit.
- Purchase and enjoy locally grown produce.
- Make a tax-deductible donation to Pacific Beach Coalition so we can continue to protect and restore the coast.
