Pelican Week: October 20-25

Celebrate our Earth Honoree, the brown pelican, during PBC’s Pelican Week from October 20-25, 2025. This majestic seabird has graced us with its presence during the summer months and will soon make its annual migration southward. Let’s give it a proper sendoff with special events, content, and more.

Friday, October 24: Pelican Dreams Movie

Join us for a free showing of the “Pelican Dreams” movie. Filmmaker Judy Irving will be at the showing to introduce her movie (rated 95% on Rotten Tomatoes) and answer questions from the audience. “Pelican Dreams” is a heartwarming story about a wayward, starving California brown pelican named Gigi that was “arrested” on the Golden Gate Bridge and an injured backyard pelican named Morro. The film explores pelicans’ nesting grounds, Pacific coast migration, and survival challenges.
